V/Line Corporation is seeking proposals from organisations interested in the procurement of P‑class locomotives currently deemed surplus to V/Line fleet operation requirements.

There are 3 P-class locomotives P12, P13 and P15

The objectives of the disposal are to:

• Ensure V/Line receive a ‘value for money’ proposal from a suitable tenderer.
• Ensure the freight rail industry can access selected surplus V/Line broad-gauge rolling stock for broad-gauge freight use when it is available.
• Ensure the locomotives are returned to service as reliable broad-gauge freight locomotives in a timely fashion by an organisation that has the capability to return them to a high standard of operation and set them to work on the Victorian broad-gauge rail network.
• Ensure that collection (i.e. removal) of the locomotives is in a manner that minimises any impact to V/Line or rail network operations.
• Ensure that collection of the locomotives is in a manner that V/Line agrees does not compromise the safety of the Purchaser’s employees, sub-contractors, V/Line personnel, train passengers and the wider community.
• Ensure that collection of the locomotives does not compromise the environment, and is compliant with all relevant standards/legislation; and
• Ensure the proposed use of the locomotives is compliant with all relevant standards/legislation.
