Waratah-Wynyard Council Wynyard Indoor training Facility design and document

Waratah-Wynyard Council (WWC) seeks submissions from suitably experienced Architect and sub consultant teams to undertake the detailed design, documentation and approvals processes for a new indoor training facility to be constructed in Wynyard

As background

Consultants DWP were engaged by Council to develop a concept design for an indoor training facility to aid stakeholder discussion as to the required scale, form, and function of such a facility.

The concept design generally expresses the stated needs and agreed approach of the stakeholders.

Key features of the concept design are:

• training space suitable for football and cricket as shown. Flexibility within the training space to allow for the conduct of a range of other indoor sports (play, training) and community activities.
• Change rooms and amenities.
• Combined changerooms / toilets and accessible facilities for the indoor facility (School has separate toilet and change room facilities within the existing gymnasium.)
• Integration of indoor and outdoor sport spaces
• Storage space for regular and occasional users
• Shade / weather protection
• Various ancillary facilities and fit out for training spaces.
• A basic kitchenette / kiosk is to be considered in the detailed design.
• Carparking for the project will be provided via a separate element of the Master Plan delivery (refer to the Master Plan)

Council requires support to progress the agreed concept to a tender-ready stage (detailed design, documentation and permits) considering a range of matters including:

• engagement with stakeholders
• to refine project and explore potential users need.
• Explore sighting options to best meet stakeholder needs.
• Integration with other facilities
• review relevant standards, guidelines associated with such facilities.
• Design and facilitate a site selection process. (Council to secure access to selected site)
• Permits and approvals for the project.
• Operational performance and efficiency.
• Functionality and flexibility in use.
