The Northern Grampians Shire is located in the picturesque Grampians region of Victoria and covers an area of 5,918 square kilometres. It borders the Grampians National Park, Wimmera Plains (west), Mallee Plains (north) and the Pyrenees Region (east). The major towns are Stawell and St Arnaud and the villages are Great Western, Halls Gap, Navarre, Glenorchy, Marnoo and Stuart Mill.

Recognition and preservation of the natural, spiritual, cultural and built forms including heritage buildings, monuments and streetscapes are of major importance to the shire's heritage conservation policy.

Northern Grampians Shire Council is seeking submissions from qualified and experienced Building Inspectors (Unlimited) for professional services to fulfil Council’s responsibilities under the Building Act 1993 (Vic) ("the Act"), Building Regulations 2018 and any subsequently enacted regulations ("the Regulations") and any other applicable legislation, with such professional services to be directly carried out by appropriately registered building practitioners. The provision of the Contract Services will have support from Council’s administrative support staff. The specified Building Services are required to be based at the Council Offices, two days per week (Monday-Friday), with the exception of public holidays or other Council Office closure days.
