Kensington Street and Kookynie-Malcolm Road both fall under the jurisdiction of the Shire of Menzies and the Shire wishes to complete upgrades to sections of these two roads. 

Separable Portion 1: Kensington Street Re-Alignment to Menzies Town Water Tank

The works included under this component of the contract broadly comprise upgrades to a 447m section (CHA 500m to CHA 947m) of Kensington Street being the access road to the Menzies Town Water Tank from and includes:

 Traffic Management (including signage) as necessary to complete the works.

 Pumping and carting of construction water.

 All earthworks as required to affect the required upgrades including supply and install the road embankment and disposal and / or stockpiling of excess cut material as instructed by the Principal.

 Load and cart of base-course quality gravel to site from nominated gravel pits. Resheeting and compaction of the road pavement to final base-course pavement 250mm thick up to new design level.

 Road surfacing comprising a two-coat bituminous seal.

 Blend new works to the existing seal associated with the laydown area adjacent to the water tank and also the western extremity of the works.

Separable Portion 2: Kookynie-Malcolm Road Upgrade

The works included under this component of the contract broadly comprise upgrades to a 2.36km section of Kookynie-Malcolm Road from CHA 1970 to CHA 4331 and includes:

 Traffic Management (including signage) as necessary to complete the works.

 Pumping and carting of construction water.

 All earthworks as required to affect the required upgrades including supply and install the road embankment and disposal and / or stockpiling of excess cut material as instructed by the Principal.

 Load and cart of base-course quality gravel to site from nominated gravel pits. Resheeting and compaction of the road pavement to final base-course pavement 150mm thick up to new design level.

 Road surfacing comprising a two-coat bituminous seal.

 Installation of RCP culverts at three locations along the upgraded section of road.

 Re-instatement of existing roadside and off-shoot drains to direct runoff into natural drain lines away from the road. 

 Installation of new traffic signage including signage associated with the rail line beyond the northern extremity of the works.

 Supply and install guideposts over full length of works (in accordance with MRWA guidelines).

 Blend new works to existing sealed sections at both ends of the existing floodway and the northern and southern extremities of the works.
