Tender ID: 564319
Tender Details
Tender Description
The Nature Parks is looking to appoint a suitably qualified, value for money contractor partner to assist the Nature Parks to manage our Phase 2 Bridge Repairs Churchill Island.
A Contractor was engaged by Phillip Island Nature Parks to perform the phase 1 concrete remediation works to the Churchill Island Bridge. A Level 2 and Level 3 report had been carried out on the bridge identifying defective areas that required repair. Scope of this phase 1 work included:
- Removal and replacement of delaminated concrete to crossheads, piles, and kerb downturn
- Epoxy crack injection to piles, kerb downturn, wear slab and footpath
During these phase 1 repair works, additional defects from the original construction of the bridge were detected and appear to have contributed to the delaminating concrete and cracking.
The kerb downturn is sitting hard against the crosshead which has caused it to shear the face of the crosshead or in some instances crack the face of the kerb downturn.
On the top of the bridge, the compression seals on the wear slab look to have failed, and there is no drainage for the to shed off any water.
Areas of widespread cracking on the wear slab could be attributed to a lack of control joints which should be installed over the crossheads at the end of the prestressed deck units
Our engineering consultants recommend these detected defects make up the remediation work in this phase 2 Bridge Repairs to ensure longevity of the completed repairs to the Churchill Island Bridge.
