Tender Description

Background

KRC comprises numerous buildings and structures, including sheds, workshops, a library, classrooms, offices, and dormitory accommodation for visiting students. This project aims to upgrade student facilities, including Building 5 (library) / Building 16 (student recreation room)/ basketball and tennis courts, as part of CDU’s investment to reinvigorate its regional presence and improve student learning and experience.

CDU has planned to engage a suitably qualified, competent and resourced contractor with construction experience to undertake this project. The contractor is required to demonstrate their capability of managing the construction programs, minimizing disruption to campus operation, and expediting delivery of the project.

Site of Works

The site works is at Charles Darwin University Katherine Rural Campus are on the western area of the Katherine rural campus.

Scope of Works

The scope of work includes but it is not necessarily limited to the following:

1. The Works comprise the refurbishment and remediation works to Building 5 (library), Building 16 (student recreation room) and the Basketball and tennis courts. The scope is documented in the appendix, which forms part of this Request for Quotation.

2. CDU reserves the right to modify the contracted scope of works with the successful tenderer.

3. Provision of evidence the contractor is licensed to perform the Works.

4. Responsibility for Construction Site Work Health and Safety (WHS) and management of same in accordance with the Northern Territory Work, Health, and Safety (National Uniform Legislation) Act and Regulations

5. Scheduling and programming of the Works in coordination with the University, minimizing disruption to campus operations.

6. Site fencing/security, management of access into and out of the site

7. Site establishment/mobilization inclusive of dilapidation report submitted to the University prior to commencement.

8. Procurement, supply, and installation of construction materials in accordance with the documentation, codes of practice and relevant Australian Standards

9. Provision of all plant, equipment, and personnel to undertake the works in accordance with the documentation and contract required to complete the project within the agreed timeframe and budget.

10. Provision of Building Permit as required by legislation, and Certificate of Occupancy to achieve practical completion.

11. Provision of all certificates of compliances and others as required by legislation to achieve.

12. Management, coordination and attending to all defects to the satisfaction of the University.

13. Coordinate with the University nominated Contact Officer to minimize impacts to users of the building and campus generally.

14. Inclusion of all fees necessary to complete the project excluding Power and Water WASSEP (Water and Sewage System Extension Policy) fees.
