The site of the works shall be along the existing raw water main that extends from the Callide Dam pump station to the Biloela Water Treatment Plant (WTP).

The scope of works includes the following components:

1. The construction of a pig insertion pit and associated fittings adjacent to the Callide Dam water pump station

2. Realignment of the existing raw water main at the corner of Calvale Road and the WTP access road.

3. Road crossing realignment of the raw water main and construction of an above ground pig recovery/insertion arrangement along the WTP access road.

4. Minor realignment of the raw water main and construction of an above ground pig recovery arrangement immediately prior to the inlet to the WTP.

Subsequently, the proposed works to install new pipework and fittings will be required to connect to the existing raw water pressure main at each location. The installation and connection of the new fittings and appurtenances will require the shut-down of the raw water main and the stoppage of pumping from Callide Dam pump station. Therefore, the Contractor shall liaise with Council to co-ordinate the required cut-over works to the existing pressure main and the shut-down of the main in order to undertake the works progressively. Accordingly, the Contractor shall allow for this liaison and co-ordination with Council, including the preparation of a shut-down or change-over plan for each site for review and approval. Final approval of this sequencing and the timing of the shut-down for the works at each location shall be approved by Council.

In order to minimise the timeframe required for this shut-down or change-over, the Contractor shall program their works and construct/install as much of the new works as practical prior to the change-over. This is to ensure that the existing raw water main continues to operate and provides continuity of supply until the required change-over point.

Once all initial works are complete at each location and approval is provided by Council for the change-over, the final connection arrangements as per the details shown in the project drawings can be undertaken.
