The Schools Plus School Partnerships Program (SPP)

Schools Plus believe school communities are best placed to identify the strategies that will help their children and young people to succeed and thrive. The Schools Partnerships Program (SPP) provides school communities with funding, coaching, program management and evaluation to enable them to implement place-based and evidence-informed initiatives chosen by the schools.

Paul Ramsay Foundation (PRF) and Schools Plus partnership objectives

The partnership between PRF and Schools Plus focuses on delivering SPP to up to 45 schools in remote and very remote locations. Schools Plus are delivering SPP to more schools and communities than this, however this research and evaluation will focus on this partnership specifically rather than SPP as a whole.

Purpose and key areas of inquiry

PRF will commission an independent evaluation and research, to run from October 2024 to August 2026. This work will assess:

• The needs, challenges and opportunities for schools in remote and very remote Australia (Research component),

• What has worked in relation to school improvement in remote and very remote locations (Evaluation component), and

• The system conditions that create barriers and enablers for success (Research and Evaluation component)

The intent is to use this public facing work to influence policy and/or advocacy efforts to generate systemic change for remote and very remote schools and students in Australia.
