Water security is a priority issue in Waikato region. Our region’s water resources are affected by climate change. Water supply is decreasing and demand is increasing. Economic growth and the health of freshwater ecosystems will be impacted if our water supply and demand issues are not managed more effectively in future.

At the request of the Waikato Mayoral Forum, WRC produced the Water Security Strategy for the Waikato Region. This procurement is to implement recommendations from the Water Security Strategy. Specifically, the development of a Water Security Plan.
