Tender Description
Arts Tasmania invites applications from Tasmanian artists to create 2D wall-based artworks in paint or vinyl, at nine schools around the state.
This opportunity is open to Tasmanian artists who have not been commissioned through the scheme and who meet Arts Tasmania’s general eligibility criteria.
The Department for Education, Children and Young People (DECYP) is upgrading classroom and learning facilities at schools around Tasmania.
The Wall Space Project is a commission and professional development opportunity presented by Arts Tasmania and DECYP to support new artists to develop work through the Tasmanian Government Art Site Scheme.
We are looking for artists to create indoor and outdoor 2D artworks in primary and district schools. Each selected artist will have the opportunity to visit the school and create an artwork that responds to the location and is meaningful to school students.
This commission is for artists who have not created work through the Tasmanian Government Art Site Scheme before.
You do not need prior experience with public art commissions. If you are selected, we’ll support you to develop and realise a concept and develop your skills creating art for public places.
We’ll support you through the application process, starting with two online information sessions:
- Thursday, 18 July, 6:00 pm – Intro to Public Art and the Wall Space Commissions. Watch the recording on YouTube.
- Thursday, 1 August, 6:00 pm – How to Create Wall Murals - Watch the recording on our YouTube account.
In these sessions, experienced mural artists Bec Adamczewski and Amanda Kay will take the mystery out of creating murals in paint and vinyl print.
These are free sessions, but registrations are essential.
