Tender ID: 566889
Tender Details
Tender Description
Queensland Rail is responsible for the reconstruction & revitalisation of the Ipswich Signal Cabin (the ‘Cabin’) which was removed from the Ipswich Central Railway Yards in 2013. As part of the conditions set by the Department of Environment, Science & Innovation (DESI) for its removal, the Cabin must be reconstructed at the Queensland Museum's (QM) Ipswich Workshops Rail Musem site as a museum exhibit that showcases its historical significance.
The Cabin is a three-storey State heritage listed building which incorporated a set of levers and signalling cables which the signalling engineers at the time used to direct train movements within the Ipswich Central Railway Yard. The reconstruction will closely follow the Cabin's original design, while incorporating elements that highlight its engineering importance and its role in the history of Queensland's rail system.
The proposed works include but are not limited to:
- Relocation of the Cabin from a shed at the Ipswich Workshops to its final position at the QM Ipswich Workshops Rail Museum;
- Reconstruction & stabilisation of the Cabin in accordance with relevant documentation;
- Reconstruction and stabilisation of the signal frame within the Cabin;
- All associated Civil works, Electrical & Communication works, Fire management works & landscaping works in accordance with relevant documentation.
