Fremantle Ports are currently exploring options for bulk cargo operation under the changes brought about by Westport and are seeking to extend the existing Outer Harbour model to include landside operations at KBJ and KBT.

The extended model will then be used to help answer the following questions:

Should any trade be moved from KBJ to KBT, or vice versa?

What infrastructure at KBJ and KBT is required, and when, to meet base trade forecasts between now and 2054?

How large should stockpiles be to minimise interruptions to operations, while keeping capital expenditure to an acceptable level?

Will it be economically sensible in the future to use rail rather than trucking to move material? If so, when should this transition occur?
