Tender Description

The Northern Territory Government (NTG) facilitates the strategic policy and planning agenda for alcohol and other drugs in the Northern Territory in partnership with health services, non-government organisations and consumers. This grant program aims to minimise harm associated with the use of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs, including volatile substances, through a range of prevention, education and community action initiatives.

This year the program will have a coordinated approach, aligning with NT Police and Department of Logistics and Infrastructure for AOD and Towards Zero: Road Safety Action Plan 2024-2028. Focus will be on initiatives to increase awareness about the impact of AOD use on road safety.

Funding is available up to $20,000 for individual projects/initiatives across the Territory.

There are two areas of focus for 2024/25 applications:

• Provision of projects to promote healthy choices that aim to reduce harms associated with Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) among young people. Priority projects will demonstrate culturally safe responses that address harms associated with AOD emerging issues

• Road Safety initiatives which will include strategies to increase public awareness about the impact of alcohol and other drugs on both driving and pedestrian accidents and deaths.

- Demonstrate the activities are consistent with the National Drug Strategy 2017-2026 the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples Drug Strategy 2014-2019, the National Strategic Framework for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples Mental Health and Social Emotional Wellbeing 2017-2023 and/or Towards Zero Road Safety Action Plan 2024-2028
