Kangaroo Island Council has included capital budget within the 2024/25 financial year to undertake earthworks and stormwater upgrades in preparation for footpath installation.

Earthworks

• Detailed shaping of future footpath alignment including imported fill, cut to fill, and disposal of unsuitable material such that Earthworks level along alignment to be approximately level with existing edge of seal along ANZAC St and enough fill to provide 100mm cover over the proposed 450mm stormwater culvert along Daw st.
• Detailed shaping of swale drains including removal of unsuitable material/ silt build up along all approaches and discharges from existing culverts along future footpath alignment
• Reduce height of high point across from new proposed 450mm RCP line to facilitate drainage flow through to twin 1200mm RCBCs at Daw St /Jones St intersection

Stormwater

• Extend existing 600mm x 300mm RCBC by 1 length including precast base slab (RCBC & base slab provided by KI Council)
• Extend existing 600mm x 300mm RCBC by 2 lengths including precast base slab, redirect existing 150mm dia roofwater by way of grated pit and pipework towards new headwall entry. Precast RCBC & base slabs to be provided by KI Council, Contractor to supply grated pit.
• Extend existing 600mm x 300mm RCBC under the driveway by 1.6m so the u/s headwall location to the east is adjacent to the existing CWMS feature (may need to modify headwall) including precast base slabs, extend existing d/s box culvert to the west (remove headwall) and construct pit/chamber at junction with road crossing 400mm x 225mm RCBC (which will need to be extended by 1 length following removal of headwall. Discharge from chamber into 450mm RCP. KI Council to supply RCBCs and precast base slabs. Contractor to construct Stormwater pit in-situ
• Install 58m of 450mm Class 2 RCP to discharge adjacent to twin 1200mm x 300mm RCBC road crossing d/s headwall - ensure fall from chamber to RCP point of discharge. Backfill and finish RCP to a suitable level that will enable construction of footpath above RCP obvert (top of pipe). KI Council to supply precast RCPs
• Extend existing twin 1200mm RCBCs and also twin 300mm RCPs crossing Daw St, construct 100mm thick concrete slab with mesh reinforced base and walls that extend 400mm up batter sides. Extend slab to the north by 1.5m past 450mm RCP centre of pipe, ensure apron is past existing CWMS I/O location. KI Council to provide precast RCBCs, base slabs and RCPs

Miscellaneous

• Install riser to existing CWMS feature to extend cover to match new FSL. Install stormwater pit with outlet to discharge flows d/s along Jones St - pit comprises of precast components provided by KI Council
• Contractor to concrete infill around pipe to prevent material ingress.
• Removal and Replacement of unsuitable material (Rate only)

All bedding material, culverts and slabs to be installed in accordance with relevant Australian Standards for bedding thickness, compaction, level tolerances etc.
