GRC seeks to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced Service Provider to undertake a water mains cleaning program, by air scouring within GRC’s water reticulation system to prolong the life expectancy of the distribution system and reduce the potential for waterborne disease outbreaks.

The objective of the water mains cleaning program will be to achieve a thorough cleaning inside pipes by removing sediment, debris, and biofilm deposits.

The aim of the water mains cleaning program is to:

• Improve the aesthetic quality of the water

• Improving the disinfectant residual;

• Reducing bacterial regrowth;

• Dislodging biofilm;

• Removing sediment and deposits;

• Controlling corrosion;

• Restoring flows and pressures (and overall system capacity);

• Eliminating taste and odour problems;

• Reducing disinfectant demand throughout the system; and

• Reduce the amount of customer complaints after the cleaning
