Council is seeking suitably experienced and qualified people to manage Home Hill Swimming Pool for the period 15 December 2024 (or as negotiated) to 30 April 2027 with options for 2, 12-month extensions, as described in more detail in Part 5 – Scope.

The successful Supplier will be required to:

a) have good interpersonal skills and be able to interact professionally and maintain good relations with various visitors to the Centre;

b) have the ability to undertake maintenance of grounds, pool water and minor maintenance of equipment and buildings across the Centre

c) obtain and maintain First Aid certificate, CPR award and Pool Lifeguard award;

d) have or obtain Certificate IV in Swimming Pool and Spa Service;

Tenderers also have the option to suggest improvements to the operation of the Centre, including changes to opening hours at the pool and provide a price for operating under these proposed changes.

Background information / Compatibility requirements

Burdekin Aquatic Centre consists of a 50 pool, a water park, a children’s wading pool, grandstand, new entry and kiosk, ancillary buildings and male, female and unisex disabled facilities. (A full list is available in the Scope, Appendix 6)

Recent improvements, to the facility, include:

• Installation of water park;

• New entry to Centre with new kiosk and outdoor covered seating; and

• Hot water added to unisex amenities.

Future works dependent on approvals include:

• New amenities block;

• Demolition of old amenity blocks;

• Demolition of old office building; and

• Improved street frontage.

Council is open to suggestions in relation to improvements in the operation of the Pool which may be outlined in your response in Part 6, Schedule J – Alternate Options.

There is also an opportunity to provide alternate hours as per Schedule J and provide a price for the alternate hours in Schedule K.
