In response to the WA Health Digital Strategy 2020–2030 (the Digital Strategy) WA Health has commenced the journey toward “preparation for a phased and prioritised rollout of an Electronic Medical Record across the WA health system, with a goal of all health services having a functional Electronic Medical Record or equivalent by July 2029.”
An Electronic Medical Record (EMR) is a sophisticated, consumer-centred electronic system that enables healthcare providers to perform their roles with guardrails that put safety and quality at the heart of care for every consumer. The EMR is both a medical record and a suite of capabilities that support clinical care and workflows across care settings. EMR capabilities will dramatically improve the safety, quality, and experience of care for consumers. This leads to better health outcomes for all individuals including patients, clinical staff and allied health workers.
The Department of Health (DoH) is undertaking a Registration of Interest (ROI) process for interested parties to attend an Information Session and an individual Engagement Session to assist DoH with the planning of the provision of an EMR Solution for the WA Health System.
