Tender Description
Greyhound Racing New South Wales (GRNSW) is a statutory corporation responsible for the welfare of greyhounds and the promotion of greyhound racing in New South Wales. The key purpose of GRNSW is to oversee greyhound racing to ensure that it is a competitive and sustainable industry with a high level of public trust.
The purpose of this Request for Proposal (RFP) is to select a legal firm to provide consulting services in a variety of legal service areas with an overriding expertise regarding GRNSW or a similar organisation.
Typically, and non-exhaustively, GRNSW would require the following areas of law and service levels:
Service Level Attendance
1. General corporate and commercial advice including for complex external stakeholders matrix (eg government, political, industry participant, regulation, governance, IP rights, media and digital broadcasting, licensing and advice service relating to rules, laws and regulation); expertise regarding property law, workplace laws, administrative law, government practice, the operating of statutory bodies, and the requirement and obligations of racing industry bodies; awareness of whistle-blower protections in the private and public domains, contract drafting and negotiation; supervision of litigation; corporate secretariat services.
A dedicated Senior Associate (SA) level lawyer.
Other members of the firm across the various fields of expertise required by GRNSW to provide services in addition to the dedicated SA.
SA to be full-time, including on secondment. Among other things that SA will be required to perform corporate secretariat work for the Board.
Other members of the firm as required day-to-day. Minimum likely attendance of 3-4 hours a day (at SA level).
2. Supervision and specialist advice on the above. Partner Partner likely 2-3 days a week. Likely attendance of 4 hours a day supervising SA or providing separate specialist advice to the executive leadership team.
3. Out of tender services: the ability of the firm to provide services not covered by the tender agreement, such as litigation and dispute resolution; legal advice for urgent considerations, relating to media, participants, industry threat etc. Issues crisis advice and management due to the nature of the industry ; advice regarding appeals, advocate and other services to assist GRNSW when required. All firm Ad hoc (outside tender) and available 24 hours, 7 days a week, reflecting the operating hours of the GRNSW and the industry.
