Tender Details
Tender Description
The City of Gold Coast (The Principal) has a current long term contract for South Stradbroke Island (SSI) Barge Services. The current contract expires in 2025.
The Principal is seeking to understand the current market and the capability of organisations for SSI Barge Services. The Principal will use the responses from market participants to inform its procurement strategy.
The Contract includes but not limited to the transportation of waste compactor units, Roll On Roll Off (RORO) bins, bulk fuel, palletised stores items and the Principal’s fleet and plant, with the actual number of trips based on the number of transfers required.
The Principal’s plant, waste management and fuel trucks, as well as other goods are delivered to and removed from Tipplers at SSI on a weekly basis. In additional to the weekly service, every four weeks the Principal requires the Contractor to transfer 2-3 roll on roll off (RORO) waste bins to and from North Currigee transfer station. This monthly service usually ties in with the weekly service for Tipplers on the return trip.
The primary hours of operation are currently every Thursday during daylight hours only, or as the tide dictates for Currigee. The monthly service is generally the last Thursday of the month but is subject to change due to tides. The Contractor is to be available to operate at any time (24 hours a day 7 days a week) at the Principal’s discretion, provided the appropriate notice of 24 hours is given by the Principal.
When the Principal undertakes significant capital works projects on the Island or requires urgent services barge services will need to be available upon request and as demand arises.
The barge landing points relating to this operation are basic hard stands located at Tipplers and North Currigee. However, beach landings to service South Currigee campground will be required from time to time.
The Contractor provides a secure storage facility to temporarily store palletised stores items, as well as a storage area to store at least three empty RORO bins, one compactor bin and occasionally one cardboard recycling cage of varying dimensions.
