Expression of Interest FGP biosolids removal and beneficial reuse
Tender ID: 568535
Tender Details
Tender Description
The Gladstone Area Water Board (GAWB) owns and operates Awoonga Dam on the Boyne River along with a network of delivery pipelines, water treatment plants and other bulk water distribution infrastructure in the Gladstone region in Central Queensland.
GAWB’s purpose is to ensure the long- and short-term water needs of current and future customers are met in ways that are environmentally, socially and commercially sustainable. This is achieved by continuously planning for these needs and developing, operating and maintaining the infrastructure required in a sustainable manner, while minimizing the impact its operations have on the environment.
For further information on GAWB please visit www.gawb.qld.gov.au.
GAWB seeks to gain a more detailed understanding of the waste/sludge/biosolids market and the possible solutions that may be available for the removal, treatment and conversion of biosolids into usable fertilizer (beneficial reuse) for agricultural and other uses from the Fitzroy to Gladstone Pipeline’s water treatment plant (WTP) located at Alton Downs, Queensland.
Hence, GAWB is undertaking this EOI procurement process to investigate a more beneficial reuse of sludge from water treatment processes and to move towards more sustainable practices. Therefore, GAWB is seeking interested and qualified entities who may wish to purchase the potential sludge that will be produced at the Alton Downs WTP. GAWB is open to respondents expressing interest in a proportion or the whole volume of sludge produced. GAWB is also open to receiving expressions of interest from respondents who may have another solution to the removal and/or disposal of the sludge from the Alton Downs WTP.
