International Women’s Day is celebrated around the world on 8 March each year. It was established in response to the growing demand for equality for women and recognition of women’s achievements. In recent years, International Women’s Day has represented an opportunity to appreciate the journey that women have taken to achieve greater rights and has also served to raise awareness that further work is needed to achieve gender equality. At its core, International Women’s Day is also an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of individual women and their continuing contribution to their local communities. Applications from rural and remote areas are encouraged.

Available funding

The Office of Gender Equity and Diversity International Women’s Day Grants Program provides funding to celebrate International Women’s Day (8 March). The total grant funding for International Women’s Day is $60,600 each year. Grants of up to $3000 are available for individuals and organisations.
