Tender Description
The project will deliver a new purpose-built outpatient clinic to enhance existing services for Queensland Children, addressing current pressures in the health system and restoring performance to pre-COVID levels. Tailored initiatives will be implemented to improve CHQ's planned care performance, including strategies to increase outpatient ambulatory clinical service capacity.
The Queensland Children’s Hospital (QCH) will undergo upgrades, transforming spaces into new consultation rooms in line with Australian Design Guidelines for Health Facilities. These upgrades will include administrative areas aligned with clinical requirements, consultation rooms, upgraded HVAC, electrical and fire systems, and ensure full building compliance.
The new fit-out will help CHQ meet rising demand for ambulatory care services, reducing pressure on the Emergency Department. Based on the detailed design, the proposed development includes:
- Conversion of the existing large meeting room into a new Reception/Waiting area, connected to the current 6A Waiting Area.
- Reallocation of the current Scan Centre and administrative areas for the construction of:
- 12 Consultation Rooms
- 1 Universal Consultation Room
- 1 Treatment Room
- 1 New Large Meeting Room
- 1 Small Meeting Room
- 1 Medication Room
- 1 Clean Store
- Various staff and administrative spaces
- Installation of expanded electrical systems (power, lighting, emergency lighting, communications, nurse call, access controls, and CCTV) to accommodate the new layout.
- Installation of new in-ceiling air conditioning units for the Waiting Room and Large Meeting Room, with updated ducting and zoning for the existing air conditioning system.
- Provision of medical gases for the new outpatient unit, including a Zone Isolation Valve Box, Medical Gas Alarm Panel, 14 Medical Services Panels, and associated equipment.
- Integration of new fire detection and alarm systems with existing infrastructure, and installation of a new fire hose reel and modifications to the sprinkler system.
- New drainage connections, including in-wall drainage, to minimize service congestion.
- Installation of new hot and cold water supplies for hand wash basins, sinks, and toilets, including 17 in-wall thermostatic mixing valves.
