Tender Description
Council is seeking proposals from experienced artists for the design and installation of animal statues that support the redevelopment and activation of Rockhampton Botanic Gardens and Zoo.
Rockhampton is fortunate to host a diverse array of native and exotic fauna and Rockhampton Regional Council (Council) seeks to celebrate these riches to increase both local and visitor awareness around the importance of biodiversity protection.
The Rockhampton Botanic Gardens, gazetted in 1869, are important and significant as the city's principal recreation and botanic retreat. They reflect Rockhampton's significance as a major urban centre for central Queensland, as well as the city's desire to sustain a national and international scientific, educational, and recreational centre. The grounds, which include formal and informal landscaped areas with early and substantial plantings, slope down to the Murray Lagoon and provide spectacular views from the Athelstane Range's western slopes.
The community holds the Botanic Gardens in high respect, and it has been a popular venue for events, recreation, and tourists to Rockhampton since the late 19th century.
