Walcha Council is seeking the professional services of a suitably experience engineering design company to undertake the survey and design for a new heavy vehicle rest area on Thunderbolts Way within the Walcha LGA.

Background information / Compatibility requirements

The rest area must be designed in accordance with Austroads ‘Guidelines for the Provision of Heavy Vehicle Rest Area Facilities’ (AP-R591-19) which is freely downloadable from the Austroads website.

The key scope for this RFQ includes provision for:

- Site Survey

- Geotechnical investigations for pavement construction

- Basic review of environmental factors (some mature trees may need removal. Wombats are also very common in the area.

- Provision for three concept plan revisions

- Detailed Design

- Confirmation for the suitability of sightlines for heavy vehicles leaving and entering the rest area

- Safety in Design Report

- Construction designs levels suitable for grade control

- Indicative current market rate prices for each element of the rest area construction. This will assist Council to fine tune construction scope to meet budgetary requirements
