Burdekin Shire Council (Council) invites tenders from suitably qualified tenderers to deliver collection services to the Burdekin Shire local government area.

In general, this contract covers the service provision of kerbside waste, recycling and green waste collection services to domestic and commercial properties within the Burdekin Local Government Area (LGA). Broadly, the collection services includes:

- Domestic premises – weekly waste, fortnightly recycling and fortnightly green waste (alternate fortnight to recycling);

- Commercial premises – weekly waste, fortnightly recycling, fortnightly green waste (for some properties)

- Bulk bin services to Council facilities (i.e. waste transfer station and other Council buildings as needed)

- RORO collection services to Council facilities (i.e. waste transfer station)

Waste and green waste is to be deposited to Council’s Kirknie Landfill. Recyclables are to be transported to the Townsville Material Recovery Facility (MRF) and Council is responsible for the processing arrangement with the MRF operator.

The contract commences from 1 July 2025 for an initial 8-year term with two (2) extension options of up to 12-month each.

Important Note for Tenderers.

Specific to the RORO Collection Services, Council will assess the value for money proposition of including the RORO Collection Services within the contract. Council has the discretion to completely exclude the entire RORO Collection Services, or to not include the RORO Collection Services for scrap steel in the contract. This will be determined as part of the evaluation process and determined prior to the execution of the contract and be subject to Council resolution. To reflect this, tenderers must complete Worksheet A and Worksheet B in the Price Schedule. Worksheet A includes the provision of RORO Collection Services and Worksheet B excludes the provision of RORO Collection Services.
