Council is seeking an Independent Member to sit on the Shire of Northam's Audit and Risk Management Committee to enhance our commitment to transparency and accountability when dealing with financial and governance activities.

The Independent Member will:

•  Provide advice and oversight on the financial and compliance obligations in accordance with the Local Government Act 1995 and associated regulations.
•  Be required to abide by the Shire of Northam Code of Conduct for Councillors, Committee Members and Candidates.
•  Be eligible to be paid sitting fees of $305.00 per meeting.
•  Be elected for a maximum of 2 years, expiring at each Local Government Election.
• Be available to attend meetings which are usually held quarterly.

Selection criteria:

Must have senior business, financial management or requisite knowledge and skills to benefit the Committee.

•  Exposure to local government, demonstrated knowledge of risk management principles and practices and relevant tertiary qualifications are not essential but will be highly regarded.
•  Expressions of interest will not be considered if applicants are currently serving Elected Members of other local governments.
