This tender aims to refresh the existing Sydney Trains Non-Ferrous Buyer’s Panel and collaborate with Sydney Trains to undertake the purchase and removal of Non-Ferrous scrap metal from Sydney Trains’ premises.

Scope

Non-ferrous scrap metals are regularly generated from various Sydney Trains maintenance activities and renewal works throughout the network, and they need to be disposed of responsibly.

Non-ferrous metals, which do not contain iron in appreciable amounts, generally have higher monetary value than ferrous metals due to their desirable properties. These properties include low weight, higher conductivity, non-magnetic characteristics, and resistance to corrosion.

Sydney Trains consolidates and sorts all nonferrous metal scraps at its Cable & Electrical Warehouse in Chullora.

Sydney Trains is seeking Buyers to purchase and remove the following non-ferrous metals, including but not limited to:

• Bare & insulated copper
• Brass
•  Aluminium
•  Transformers
•  Radiators
•  Stainless steel
•  Switchgear assemblies
•  AC coils
•  Train exhausts
•  Mixed metals
•  Copper tips
•  Resistors
•  used batteries

The Buyer is responsible for purchasing and removing the metals using metal bins, pallets, and cages provided by Sydney Trains at the Chullora site. These items must be collected and transported by the Buyer. For any smaller, one-off sales within the Greater Metropolitan area, the Buyer must provide their own bins or pallets as needed.
