Tender Description

The Advanced Training Committee in Cardiology is seeking Expressions of Interest (EOIs) from Cardiology Physician to join the Committee as the Queensland Representative and an Appointed Member.

One of the main roles of the Advanced Training Committee in Cardiology is to monitor and assess individual trainee progress in Cardiology for Australia.

The Advanced Training Committee in Cardiology is seeking applicants to apply for the role of Queensland Representative and Appointed Member. This is a great opportunity for Physicians who are willing to support current Cardiology Advanced Trainees and the training program. In this role, you'll help shape the physicians of the future and positively contribute to the direction, workforce, and culture of Cardiology in Australia.

You'll be involved in reviewing and monitoring the training program requirements, assessment, and curricula in consultation with the relevant Specialty Society(ies) and other stakeholders, and recommending changes to the College Education Committee, via the Adult Medicine Division Education Committee, Paediatrics Division Education Committee, or Faculty Education Committee.

Role responsibilities

  • liaising with heads of department to facilitate a smooth recruitment process for incoming Cardiology trainees
  • monitoring training of, and providing support to, supervisors in Cardiology
  • accrediting Advanced Training sites or programs in Cardiology
  • assessing recognition of prior learning
  • advising on matters relating to Overseas Trained Physicians, as requested
  • modifying individual training requirements, as appropriate, in accordance with College policies and procedures
  • assessing and providing advice on specialist recognition in Cardiology for Fellows in the Paediatric and Child Health Division or the Adult Medicine Division who haven't completed the Cardiology Advanced Training program.

Meetings are held 4 times per year, with 1 face-to-face meeting usually held in November.

Members are appointed to the ATC for a 3-year term and can be renewed for a further term.
