Project goals
The objectives of the program are:
- to ensure the delivery and coordination of information, advice and assistance to migrant workers who experience workplace and/or, immigration issues and/or possible modern slavery violations;
- to ensure migrant workers, including in regional, rural, and remote communities, have access to comparable services regardless of their backgrounds or where they live.
Scope
The potential Provider will provide this Service across NSW and be responsible for delivering the following services:
1. Education – helping migrant workers understand their rights at work by delivering culturally and linguistically appropriate community education, including in the context of migration, workplace health and safety and other workplace rights.
2. Enforcement – assisting migrant workers experiencing the following issues to enforce their rights and achieve just outcomes, including through the provision of legal advice and legal casework:
workplace issues including industrial, work health and safety, discrimination, modern slavery and other workplace-related issues
migration visa issues (advice and referral services)
3. Advocacy – working with migrant communities to improve their lives in Australia by conducting research, empowering community leaders and members, and advocating to decision-makers on structural issues that impact migrant workers.
