Tender Description

AgriFutures Australia are seeking a service provider to identify and analyse new revenue opportunities for the three warm inland wine-producing regions, develop extension materials in accessible formats and create an online platform to host the research and resources. This platform will also convert the developed materials into online formats to enhance accessibility and dissemination.

Background

The New Revenues for Agriculture Decision Support Tool aims to deliver an online decision tool and associated grass-roots extension tools and activities to help Australian rural industries identify and adopt new revenue opportunities. This project is a collaboration between Wine Australia and AgriFutures Australia, focusing on the Riverland, Riverina and Murray Valley wine-producing regions to support these industries in navigating challenging market conditions.

The tool will assess and demonstrate opportunities at farm, regional and national levels, considering factors such as operation type, demographics, environmental conditions, regional logistics, industry groups, consultancy support and successful adoption demonstrations in the region. The goal is for producers to use the tool to explore opportunities relevant to their regional and business context.

The project is expected to expand across other industries as it develops, and there is already an effort to gauge the interest of other industries in participating in a similar process.

The objectives of the project are to:

  • Identify and develop sustainable, long-term revenue opportunities for financially vulnerable growers.
  • Enable growers to leverage and enhance the value of their farming land and other assets and resources.
  • Increase the value and utility of existing red wine grape plantings.
  • Identify new and alternative revenue sources for inland wine grape growers.
  • Foster grower interest and engagement in new revenue opportunities.
  • Create tools and support growers in innovating and adopting new revenue streams.
A key focus will be on building existing knowledge within the grape and wine sector and other industries. Download full guidelines here
