Expressions of Interest for Electrical Isolations Improvement Program (EIIP) – Remote Switching Solution (RSS)

Project goals

Sydney Trains aims to future proof its rail networks’ safety, reliability and efficiency to support growth in terms of customers, services and freight movements and keep customers satisfied. The Remote Switching System (RSS) project aims to deliver and integrate a remote isolation and rail connecting system for the 1500v DC Traction Supply across three phases:

Phase 1: Off-System Trial Phase (current RSS ProjectPhase)

Phase 2: On-System Pilot Phase

Phase 3: Sydney CBD Roll-Out Phase

As part of RSS, there will be a number of packages to beprocured that are to be applied to the 1500v DC electrified rail network packaged as per below:

1)Network Isolation Control Sub-system (NICS)

2)Area Isolation Control Sub-system (AICS)

3)Remote Isolation & Rail Connecting Sub-systems (RIRCS)

4)Auxiliary Sub-system

Scope

The procurement strategy aims to fulfil the needs by sourcing a panel of suppliers that can provide essential equipment/components required for the Remote Switching Solution (RSS) Project. These suppliers are expected to meet requirements essential for reliable and innovative hardware and software solutions, ensuring seamless remote switching operation required to uplift the network and its maintainability, improve safety and asset performance, enhance economic sustainability, as well as improve the customer travel.
