Tender Description

Primary Health Networks (PHNs) have been established with the key objective of increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of health services for patients, particularly those at risk of poor health outcomes, and improving coordination of care to ensure clients receive the right care in the right place at the right time.

Country to Coast Queensland (CCQ) is an independent, not-for-profit organisation and we proudly deliver the Primary Health Network (PHN) programs on behalf of the Commonwealth Department of Health.

CCQ is seeking a capable and experienced general practice ready to commence delivering urgent care services to the Bundaberg community by no later than January 2025.

Medicare UCCs are intended to improve access to urgent care in a non-hospital setting, reduce pressure on Emergency Department (ED) presentations by providing patients with access to urgent care services at no cost, while supporting integration with the local health system and complementing general practice.

Medicare UCCs will:

  •  Be equipped to treat urgent, but not life-threatening conditions, as outlined in the Medicare UCC Operational Guidance.
  •  Be based in existing general practice clinics, community health centres or Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services.
  •  Operate 7-days, extended hours and accept both booked appointments and walk-ins.
  •  Provide bulk-billed urgent care, pathology and radiology services resulting in no out-of-pocket expenses to the patient.
  •  Be flexible and responsive to the needs of the local community.
  •  Treat minor injury and illness conditions that do not require hospital admission e.g. simple fractures, wounds, minor burns.
  •  Provide high-quality, safe and effective urgent care services in the community.

The Medicare UCC service model builds on the successes and learnings from experiences to-date in the national roll-out of this program.

This is a two-stage procurement process. Organisations must respond to this expression of interest (stage one), to be considered for progression to the Request for Proposal stage (stage two).

If you are interested in submitting an application, please download the EOI documents and submit your response through this portal.
