The Queensland Government is seeking Proposals for the Provision of On-Site Catering for the Queensland Police Service (QPS) Townsville Academy NQ and delivery of meals the Townsville Watchhouse.

QPS Townsville Academy

QPS invites offers from suitably qualified suppliers for the provision of onsite catering services at the Queensland Police Service Academy North Queensland Bessell Lodge facility. This is an accommodation facility for the QPS recruits and QPS in-service members.

The Bessell Lodge facility has 50 rooms, with the current occupancy rate consistently over 90%, including live-in recruits.

The Police Recruit Training Program is 34 weeks in duration, with a 2-week gap between one intake finishing and another commencing.

Generally, Recruit intakes have 63 Recruits at the Northern campus, but this may increase.

QPS Townsville Watchhouse

QPS Townsville Watchhouse is located on Walker Street, Townsville and operates 24 hours per day. Watchhouse staff are responsible for the custody, safety, and wellbeing of prisoners. Townsville Watchhouse provides meals for approximately 35-42 persons in custody daily with the potential to rise to 70 persons in custody over periods of time. (This figure is a guide only and the QPS does not guarantee or imply the actual number of meals required each day).

The three main meals are breakfast, lunch and dinner and must be provided via three separate deliveries at the nominated time, every day of the year including weekends and all public holidays. Meals are required to be wholesome and varied and nutritious, catering to medical conditions and allergies.
