Tender Description

This Tender is invited by the Issuer.

The National Film and Sound Archive of Australia (NFSA) is seeking Responses as part of a competitive Request for Quotation (RFQ) process from qualified design and software development firms to partner with the NFSA to deliver a new web platform.

The NFSA is undergoing significant digital transformation, culminating in new digital experiences for key external stakeholders and audiences. The goal of the 2025 Platform Project is to provide increased value to the Australian public by providing greater access to the national audiovisual collection for learning, enjoyment and connection. To achieve this, the NFSA is moving from an institution-led website to a platform suitable for servicing a national media brand with omnichannel capabilities, strong editorial and content management features and the flexibility to respond to trends and innovations as they emerge.

Building on work completed and in-flight within the NFSA, the Production Partner will implement a modern Software as a Service (SaaS) headless Content Management System (CMS) and develop a website that meets the NFSA’s identified needs and future ambitions. The process will be highly collaborative, ensuring the solution supports editorial goals, reflects the NFSA’s brand and design system, and works seamlessly with existing and incoming platforms and technologies.

Once the base CMS supported application is in place, the Production Partner will work with the NFSA on a number of third party integrations including a modern API driven CRM, modern SaaS user authentication protocol, video on demand platform, ticketing platform and an NFSA developed Collection API.

The required services are to be performed in two (2) Parts:

  1. Technical design and configuration of the CMS environment (fixed primary service)
  2. Website application build, third party integrations and web launch (optional secondary service).

The NFSA intends to contract with the Production Partner for Part 1, noting Part 2 may also be contracted to the Production Partner subject to ongoing contract performance, and at the NFSA’s sole discretion.

With a planned launch date in late 2025, the Production Partner will establish the CMS environment as early as possible in 2025 to facilitate content migration activities. Part 2 is intended to be formalised in the first

The NFSA's detailed requirements are attached at Annexure A - NFSA RFQ 2324/P543C - 2025 Platform Project Production Partner.
