Tender Description
Port Stephens Council commences this Request for Tender (RFT) process seeking innovative solutions for the provision of GIS Software and Services as outlined within this set of documents.
The objective of the GIS Renewal Project is to transform our GIS into a set of tools and processes that enable data-driven decision-making and continuous business improvement by:
- Providing effective tools for accessing Council’s spatial data and provide links to other corporate information systems.
- To reconfigure the GIS architecture to make best use of modern databases/data storages and web-based technologies to provide a robust, reliable, flexible and easy to use system.
- Remove as much data replication / duplication as possible and establish a ‘single point of truth’ for spatial data, regardless of how the data is accessed.
- To provide an environment that enables data custodianship, facilitates metadata management and allows users to manage their own mission critical spatial data.
- To enable spatial data to be accessed by staff whenever and wherever it is required to support service delivery, with a particular focus on the use of spatial applications on mobile devices.
- To enable external users of Council’s systems to access spatial data in an intuitive and user-friendly manner, with a particular emphasis on access of spatial and related data by the community via Council’s website using most commonly used devices (desktop, tablets or smart phones).
- To identify and provide appropriate training to ensure Council’s capability to use and maintain the GIS is enhanced.
Through this procurement process Council is seeking vendor/s that can help Council achieve these objectives.
