Stage 2 – Housing Investigation Areas Masterplan

The Inner West is a vibrant, culturally diverse, and progressive community. Known for its unique character, it blends tradition with modernity, fostering creativity and inclusivity. Its proximity to the city makes it an ideal place to live, offering numerous benefits for new residents, including a lively atmosphere, excellent amenities, and a strong sense of community.

Given the current housing crisis, the State Government is pursuing housing reform to assist with the delivery of additional housing. Inner West Council is developing masterplans for Ashfield, Croydon, Dulwich Hill, and Marrickville Housing Investigation Areas (HIAs) to demonstrate how they can provide equal or greater housing outcomes compared to those that would be delivered under the Transit Oriented Development SEPP (TOD) and Low and Mid-Rise Housing SEPP (LMR) in the same area. This work is currently underway with the masterplans due for completion in December 2024.

The masterplan and other deliverables sought under this RFT would facilitate additional housing in other parts of the Inner West Local Government Area (LGA) to meet or exceed our housing target and form part of a whole of LGA amendment to Inner West Local Environmental Plan.
