Port Macquarie-Hastings Council is seeking to partner with a suitably qualified consultant to undertake the Port Macquarie City Heart Master Plan, detailing appropriate planning controls and master-planning to ensure Port Macquarie has sufficient housing and investment opportunities.

The project will result in the creation of a Master Plan document that will need to be adopted by Council. The project supports a place-based approach to planning, including better integration of land use and regional development and/or renewal. The Master Plan will reinforce the role of Port Macquarie as a cultural hub and a central gathering place where events and festivals can be held, a place to meet for residents, visitors, and workers, with shops, commercial enterprises, cafes and restaurants and a thriving incubator of arts and culture.
