The PHN has partnered with UNE Partnerships to offer several funded places in the following courses - HLT47715 Certificate IV in Medical Practice Assisting, HLT47321 Certificate IV in Health Administration and BSB30120 Certificate III in Business (Medical Administration).
We are currently seeking Expressions of Interest from administrative and reception staff working in primary care who desire to expand their skills, advance their careers and obtain a nationally recognised qualification.
Certificate IV in Medical Practice Assisting (MPA)
Suitability
For health receptionists or health administrators that are working in a health practice or medical setting and wish to expand their skills into a clinical area. Course graduates are qualified to perform delegated clinical tasks within their scope of practice, under indirect supervision.
Course Delivery
The course includes 23 units of competency over 18 - 24 months duration delivered in 3 distinct study terms. Nationally accredited Australian Qualifications Framework level 4.
Study Commitment
Students will undertake 2 days of First Aid Training (face to face) and 3 days of Clinical Training (face to face) and expect to commit 4-6 Hours per week of self-directed study.
Certificate IV in Health Administration
Suitability
For health receptionists/administrators in customer-facing roles who are wishing to expand their skills. Applicants should be working in a suitable job role with access to a supervisor who is willing and able to observe them demonstrating skills in the workplace.
Course Delivery
The course includes 16 units of competency over a study period up to 2 years. National Recognised Training (NRT).
Study Commitment
This course comprises of on-the-job learning, workplace practice, self-directed study of 3-4 hours per week, and practical assessment which may involve any one or a combination of audio recordings, video presentations, written submissions or role play activities.
Certificate III in Business (Medical Administration)
Suitability
For health receptionists/administrators in customer-facing roles who are wishing to expand their skills. Applicants should be working in a suitable job role with access to a supervisor who is willing and able to observe them demonstrating skills in the workplace.
Course Delivery
The course includes 13 units of competency over a study period up to 1 year. National Recognised Training (NRT).
Study Commitment
This course comprises of on-the-job learning, workplace practice, self-directed study, and practical assessment which may involve any one or a combination of audio recordings, video presentations, written submissions or role-play activities.
How to Apply
Funding Arrangements
Government funding along with several scholarships provided by the Hunter New England Central Coast PHN are being offered. If successful, students will need to pay up to $500.00 for the Certificate IV in Medical Practice Assisting (MPA) or Certificate IV in Health Administration, or up to $250.00 for the Certificate III in Business (Medical Administration). Commencement
Successful applicants will need to be enrolled by Friday 28 February 2025, for a commencement day in mid-March 2025.
