Energy Safe Invite training organisations to submit an Request for Proposal (RFP) to be considered for a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Lineworker skills maintenance training contract to deliver the training as specified in this Request

There are currently 2500 Licensed Electrical Lineworkers, of which over 2000 will need to renew their licence/s from 31 December 2025. Of which most will be aiming to complete CPD skills maintenance in 2025/2026 with smaller numbers expected in subsequent year approx. 90 per year.

Currently there are 4 classes of Lineworker licence:

• Electrical lineworker’s licence - Distribution (Class D)
• Electrical lineworker’s licence - Cable Jointing (Class C)
• Electrical lineworker’s licence – Transmission (Class T)
• Electrical lineworker’s licence – Rail/Traction (Class R)

The course development is currently underway and there will be three courses as Class D and C will be in a combined course. The CPD skills maintenance courses are scheduled to be available from March 2025. The course fees payable by Energy Safe for 2025 are $216.48 (excl. GST) per eligible student.

Training Providers are required to deliver at least one of the course but may apply to cover more if they meet the requirements.

In recognition that these courses will not be available 2 years prior to the renewal date Energy Safe will provide transitional extensions to Licensed Electrical Workers’s to complete CPD within the two-year period from when the course becomes available for delivery.

To be able to deliver the course the requirement is that the training organisation will have experience in delivering electrical lineworker courses and have trainers who hold the relevant class of licence to deliver the course as well as Training qualifications.

Training organisations need to be a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) or partnered with one.

The term of the contract is until 31/12/2028 with an option to extend 2 years.
