The Gap Analysis Project aims to evaluate the current operations of the Central Sterile Supply Department (CSSD) at North West HHS against the requirements set out in AS5369:2023 Reprocessing of Reusable Medical Devices and Other Devices in Health and Non-Health Related Facilities.

The primary focus of this project is to ensure that the sterilisation processes for perioperative and oral health reusable medical devices (RMDs) meet the standards of safety, quality, and compliance.

This analysis will utilize a risk-based approach to assess the adequacy of existing sterilisation protocols, infrastructure, equipment, staff competencies, and environmental controls. It will identify any gaps in compliance with AS5369 and provide actionable recommendations to address these shortcomings. The goal is to enhance the safety, efficiency, and reliability of reprocessing services, contributing to the overall patient care and operational excellence of the health service.
