The Whangarei District Council are seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Contractor to replace the existing bridge on Gillingham Road, Whangarei.

The Gillingham Road Bridge is being upgraded as part of the IAF funded Springs Flat Roundabout project which was approved on 3rd February 2023. The purpose of this project is to open access to land north of Gillingham Road for future development. In the next 10 years up to 1,000 new homes are expected to be built in this area, increasing to about 3,000 dwellings in 30 years’ time. The existing bridge is an old, single lane timber bridge which is in poor condition and is not suitable to provide access for the development. The bridge is to be replaced with a new bridge with two traffic lanes and a shared user path to provide for future growth demands.

The Contract Works include, but are not limited to, the supply of all labour, plant, materials and equipment for the construction and completion of the following works at Gillingham Road Bridge No 395 in accordance with the specification and drawings.
