Expressions of interest are sought from Fellows interested in the position of Chair of the AMDEC.

Description

AMDEC is a vital Body of the Adult Medicine Division (AMD) as well as the College as it actively develops, coordinates, implements, and monitors the education interests and activities for Adult Medicine.

The AMDEC oversees both Adult Medicine Divisional Basic and Advanced Training.

The key responsibilities of the AMDEC are to:

  • implement College Education policy as approved by the College Education Committee (CEC)
  • implement the College’s strategic direction in relation to education within the AMD
  • ensure standardisation in Basic and Advanced Training delivery in Adult Medicine
  • ensure assessment and accreditation is conducted fairly, efficiently and in a transparent manner
  • advise CEC on education policy and program development in the AMD
  • work collaboratively with the specialty societies and other stakeholders on education development and delivery
  • monitor the Basic and Advanced training program requirements and curricula
  • undertake other functions as required by the AMD Council or Board approved policy or By-Law. This may include acting as a Review Committee pursuant to the Reconsideration, Review and Appeal By-Law or reviewing subordinate committee decisions relating to individual trainee or Fellow progress

Most meetings are held via videoconference, with 1 meeting held face-to-face each year. The AMDEC meet at least 6 times a year and members will need to commit to attending most meetings. The term of office is for 3 years, with the option to serve up to a maximum of 6 years.
