The Australian Government invested an initial $114.5 million in the 2019-20 Budget to trial eight Adult Mental Health Centres across the country, with one in each state and territory. Following this, $487.2 million was allocated in the 2021-22 Budget to expand the program. The model focuses on immediate, short- to medium-term care, offering accessible services such as triage, assessment, and mental health support, and connects individuals to other appropriate services. The initiative is designed to complement existing services and integrate mental health care across state and Commonwealth systems. Local consultation and co-design will ensure these services meet the needs of communities, including culturally safe care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

DDWMPHN is seeking to identify a preferred Service Provider/s to deliver the Medicare Mental Health Centre (MMHC) in the Warwick, Southern Downs region. This competitive, open-market process aims to identify a provider, or consortium of providers with a lead agency, to deliver high-quality, community-focused mental health services through the Warwick MMHC. The PHN encourages applicants to consider strategies for deep community embeddedness in relation to the operation of the Medicare Mental Health Centre. As such, consortium applications are encouraged through this process.
