Artists from the Ballarat region are invited to apply for funded masterclasses with Centre for Projection Art

The City of Ballarat (CoB) is offering a series of masterclasses with Centre for Projection Art (CPA) in a new 6-month paid professional development program. This program will support 8 artists from the Ballarat region to develop their skills in site-responsive projection art. The participants will be learning through practical workshops and will be supported to test their ideas and taught new, experimental, and emerging methods of creative projection practice.

This program will build capacity among artists that live, work or study in the Ballarat region. It will empower artists to explore projection as an extension of their practice and also think of projection mapping as another skill in their toolkit. This program is designed to assist in building sustainable creative careers.

The works developed by participants will be exhibited onsite as a public outcome of the sector development program. Exhibiting the development works will provide the participating artist with an audience and an opportunity to engage with the public, discuss their processes and their learning outcomes.

The opportunity in a snapshot

This professional development program has two components.

1. 6 Masterclasses run by an industry expert. This is funded by COB at no cost to the artist. ($3000 ex GST).

2. Exhibition/Public Outcome after the completion of the course. Artists will receive a fee of $2,500 ex GST for completed works and participation in the outcome.

The total financial value for the selected artists of this opportunity is $5,500 ex GST. Artists must be a vendor of Council.
