Expressions of interest are open for 5 Fellows in the Adult Internal Medicine Division to join the Accreditation Working Group for General and Acute Care Medicine for Advanced Trainees.
The College and the Advanced Training Committee (ATC) in General and Acute Care Medicine are responsible for the accreditation of training settings, positions, and types of accreditations to ensure high standards of training across Australia.
The accreditation of settings for General and Acute Care Medicine is an essential activity that ensures high-quality training environments for tomorrow’s physicians.
We're looking for:
- 1 x Deputy Chair with prior membership in the ATC in General and Acute Care Medicine
- 1 x Specialty Society Member with experience on the ATC in General and Acute Care Medicine and a member of the Society of Obstetric Medicine of Australia and New Zealand (SOMANZ)
- 1 x Regional, Rural, or Remote Member who currently practices in a regional, rural, or remote location (work locations will be classified using Modified Monash Model 2-7)
- 1 x Recent Fellow with a minimum of 2 years but less than 5 years of experience
- 1 x Member of the 2024 General and Acute Care Medicine Curriculum Renewal Group
This is an exciting opportunity if you're interested in contributing to:
- the discussion and decision-making process regarding the accreditation of settings
- positions for the Advanced Training in General and Acute Care Medicine Training Program.
The first Working Group meeting is scheduled for Friday, 7 March 2025, from 10:00am to 12:00pm AEDT (subject to change).
Key responsibilities
- attend at least 4 meetings, with the possibility of 1 face-to-face meeting at the RACP Sydney Office (additional meetings require approval from the Chair of the Working Group and the Executive General Manager of Education, Learning and Assessment).
- schedule reading time for Agenda and papers, delivered around 2 weeks before each Working Group meeting.
- work collaboratively with all accreditation accreditors and leads, relevant education committees within the College, and Specialty Societies to ensure the standardisation of accreditation policy and processes are upheld
- flexibility and a willingness to support the accreditation of training settings and positions delivering the Advanced Training in General and Acute Care Medicine Training program through site visits and videoconferences. (Some site visits will require travel to and from the setting; any costs incurred are covered by the RACP Travel Policy and Guidelines (PDF).
- monitor, review, interpret, and enforce accreditation criteria, recommending minor program and policy changes to the Advanced Training Committees as applicable, in consultation with the relevant Specialty Society and education committees within the College
- monitor, review, interpret, and enforce accreditation criteria, recommending any program and policy changes to the College Education Committee (CEC) as the peak educational body of the College, in consultation with the relevant Specialty Society and education committees within the College for decisions
Members are appointed for an initial term of 1 year, pending review for potential extension.
The role as a Working Group member is a voluntary position; however, to support and thank you for your contributions towards Accreditation, you'll receive CPD Points for the completed activities. In addition, all relevant travel, meals, and accommodation costs for attending face-to-face Working Group meetings and any site visits are covered by the College, in accordance with the RACP Travel Policy and Guidelines (PDF).
