The existing toilet block at Bicton Bath is aging and most of the internal fittings have reached their life expectancy and are beyond reasonable economic repair. There have been some safety concerns at the back side of the toilet block having very minor level difference between existing building and the retaining wall. In addition, the City plans to increase the usable space for the Public focusing the newly formed safer swimming area bound by the Bicton Jetty and newly installed shark barrier which is proving to become increasingly popular in recent months. The City also engaged with DBCA and gained their support towards relocating the existing paths to increase the overall usable public space. The Drawings and Specifications are prepared by Slavin Architects to address these issues.
During the works, the Contractor shall arrange, provide and maintain temporary public toilets for every day that the existing Changeroom building is not accessible to the public. The temporary facilities shall be located in the carpark (as per drawing) with doors facing the adjacent existing footpath. The floor level of the temporary facilities shall be set at the same height as the adjacent footpath as to provide universal access from the footpath into the temporary facilities. The temporary facilities shall comprise of 2No standard Male toilet units, 2No standard Female toilet units and 1No Universally Accessible Toilet (UAT). It is the Contractor's responsibility manage the temporary facilities for the duration of the contract, including pump-out, cleaning and stocking of sanitary items.
