Tender Description
The Department of Environment, Tourism, Science and Innovation (DETSI) Field, Remote, or Isolated Area Procedure (V1.05) mandates that employees working in remote or isolated areas must have access to at least two communication devices capable of reliable voice or text communication. These devices ensure compliance with scheduled call-ins and enable employees to request assistance during emergencies. In areas without a reliable mobile cellular network or actively monitored UHF/VHF radio service, one of the devices must support satellite communication.
Currently, regions rely on different service providers, each with distinct online portals and systems that do not communicate with one another. This lack of integration hampers real-time tracking and shared situational awareness during interregional deployments. Adopting a standardised, statewide system would resolve these issues, enhancing safety and operational efficiency across Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service and Partnerships (QPWS&P).
DETSI is seeking a simple, reliable satellite tracking and two-way communication service and the ability/capacity to provide a range of suitable hardware/devices.
