Tender Details
Tender Description
Following the award of grant funding from State Government, Brewarrina Shire Council (BSC) intends to revitalise the historic Brewarrina Town Centre and adjoining Barwon River Precinct which overlooks the internationally and nationally significant Aboriginal Fish Traps (Baiame Ngunnhu) which are over 40,000 years old and nominated for World Heritage Listing. The Project will showcase and celebrate Brewarrina's rich
Aboriginal culture and heritage, its river and pastoral history, and its spectacular river environment.
The project will include town centre beautification, art installations, riverside walking and cycling tracks, improved access to and interpretation of the Fish Traps and River Precinct. The intention is for the Project to encourage more travellers to stop, explore and stay in Brewarrina.
BSC have previously engaged Hassell Studio to complete a masterplan and place framework for the project areas, which are provided as an attachment to this tender.
The community and stakeholders have been consulted and have accepted and given their approval to move forward with the concept design presented in Hasell Studio's masterplan. This engagement is to build upon this masterplan and develop a design implementation process, including all required documentation submissions,
that will result in a final design that incorporates all internal and external stakeholders' requirements, issues and opportunities.
As Brewarrina is in a remote location, the final design should, where possible, consider the local delivery capabilities, materiality and the remote location and the cost associated with importing materials and skills.
Currently, Brewarrina has a significant number of community projects in the planning phase making it essential for the designer to be able to expedite the design process and shift this project into the construction phase as soon as practicable.
