The next phase will include SIT blowfly releases on Dudley peninsula, Kangaroo Island, commencing in 2024 and continuing through to 2027. The aim of this work is the eradication of Sheep Blowfly on Kangaroo Island.
- This stage of the project is for aerial releases of sterile blowflies, weekly aerial releases of one (1) million flies over a ten (10) x ten (10) km area of Dudley peninsula Kangaroo Island SA.
The department of Primary Industries and Regions South Australia (PIRSA) will be looking into larger scale releases requiring different equipment and potentially contractors.
