Tender Description
The project scope is for the delivery of a permanent three-dimensional contemporary installation, which will be installed on the lawns at South Gardens in Castlemaine Botanic Gardens.
The artwork should be conceived as a contemporary installation and can include a combination of built elements such as sculptural forms, landscaping, or two-dimensional artwork on ground or wall elements.
The installation should be site-specific and respond to current use of the gardens as green space which provides a place of respite for visitors and residents.
The project includes concept development, community engagement, technical development, concept and technical approvals, fabrication, transport and installation, as well as full documentation of materials and maintenance requirements.
The proposed installation should demonstrate:
• Contribute to creating an inviting space in the Gardens, which will enhance heritage and garden features
• Suitability of the work to the site including considerations of public use of the site, existing or planned urban design, environmental impact, heritage considerations, public safety and cultural and social connections to the site
• evidence of high-quality contemporary arts practice
• inclusion of Dja Dja Wurrung women’s perspectives, and incorporate appropriate engagement with the critical knowledge, values and insights of the Dja Dja Wurrung peoples.
• Consider accessibility and inclusivity, including access provisions for d/Deaf and Disabled People.
• Suitability of chosen materials for desired lifespan and maintenance of the work.
